The next morning, Nick woke up and saw Brizee still asleep. He laid there watching her sleep and smiled knowing that she was the mother of his daughter. He got up quietly and went down to the nursery. He saw Kevin and Theresa standing at the nursery window.

      Hey you two, what brings you two down here this early, Nick said.

      We wanted to see Hayley, Theresa said.

      Hows Briz, Nick, Kevin said.

      Still sleeping, Nick said.

      Your mother called, I guess you dont know about Leslie, Kevin said.

      What about Leslie, is she okay? Nick asked.

      Oh yeah, shes got a boyfriend, Kevin said.

      A boyfriend, how old is he? Nick asked.

      18, I think, Kevin said.

      If he hurts her, hell have to deal with me, Nick said.

      His name is Brad, hes coming with your family, they are on their way here, Kevin said.

      Oh goody, I get to meet him, Nick said.

      Hayleys awake, Kevin said. Nick looked at his daughter and smiled.

      Im going in, Nick said. He went into the nursery and a nurse talked to him and picked up Hayley and laid her in his arms. Nick came out with Hayley and Theresa and Kevin came over.

      Im so happy, Im a father, Nick said.

      Congrats, man, Kevin said.

      Thanks, Kev, when are you two going to get around to having a family, Nick said.

      We are working on it, Theresa said.

      Well, hurry up, I want a niece or nephew, Nick said. Kevin smiled. Nick saw his family coming.

      Nick! Aaron said running up to him.

      Hey, Airboy, Nick said.

      Is this her, Aaron said.

      No, Im just holding a baby, of course its her, Nick said smiling down at his daughter.

      Honey, Im so proud of you, Jane said coming over to him.

      Thanks, Mom, Nick said smiling at her. Hayley started fussing.

      Uh-oh, Jane said.

      Someone needs her momma, Nick said. He went to Brizees room and saw Brizee awake.

      Hey, look who I have, Nick said. Brizee smiled.

      Hey, Brizee said.

      I think shes hungry, Nick said.  He laid her in Brizees arms and Brizee started nursing the baby.

      Anybody here, Brizee said.

      My family, Im going to talk to them, okay, Nick said. Brizee smiled.

      Okay, Brizee said. Nick kissed her forehead and went out and saw a guy holding Leslies hand.

      So, you must be Brad, right, Nick said.

      Yes, Brad said.

      Im Nick, Leslies older brother, Nick said.

      Nice to meet you, Brad said.

      Brad, how about going on a walk with me, Nick said.

      Nick, Leslie said.

      Its all cool, Les, I just want to have a little talk with Brad, to get to know him better, its all okay, Nick said. He and Brad walked down the hall.

      So, whats up, Brad said.

      I just wanted to tell you that if you hurt my sister, youll have to deal with me, Nick said.

      I wont hurt her, I promise, Brad said.

      You better not hurt her, or Ill hunt you down and bust your ass, that is my little sister, okay, I love her and care about her and I dont want her to be hurt, Nick said.

      I wont hurt her, I swear, Brad said.

      Good, that is settled, but if you so much as touch her wrong, I will be after you, shes only sixteen, you better take the relationship nice and slow, no sex, Nick said.

      I have already had this talk from your father, Brad said.

      I am very protective of my sisters, and when my father isnt around, I am, Nick said.

      Okay, okay, I understand, Brad said.

      Nickolas Gene Carter, Leslie said coming up to him. Nick looked at her.

      Yes, sis, Nick said.

      Are you pulling the big brother act again, Leslie said.

      Les, I am your big brother, its my job to look out for you, BJ, Angel, and Aaron, Nick said.

      By threatening my boyfriend, Leslie said.

      I didnt threaten him, Im just telling him, Nick said.

      Nick, I am old enough to make my own choices, Mom and Dad trust me, why dont you, Leslie said.

      Leslie, I just met him, okay, itll take awhile to trust you with him, Nick said.

      Nick, you have your fiancée and baby to take care of, let Mom and Dad take care of me, Leslie said.

      Briz knows how much I love you guys, okay, I just dont want you to get hurt, Nick said.

      If you love me like you say you do, let me take care of myself, Leslie said.

      Les, you are only 16, you arent an adult yet, you have a lot to look forward to, you can have fun, I didnt get to do what you get to do, I have been a Backstreet Boy since I was like 12, okay, I didnt get to have a normal teenage life, okay, I was never home, I was always touring, I didnt get to go to high school, you do, you get to do the things I never got to do, Nick said.

      Nick, that was your choice, Leslie said.

      I know, sis, I just want you to be a normal teenager, Nick said.

      I am, Leslie said.

      Leslie, I just want to protect you, okay, please let me do that, I just want to be the best big brother, Nick said. Leslie hugged him.

      You already are, by being there for me when I need you, its like you drop everything to be there for me and the other sibs, Leslie said. Nick hugged her tight.

      Look, Im sorry, Im just trying to protect you the best way I know how, Nick said.

      I know, Leslie said.

      So everything you said still stands, Brad said.

      Yup, Nick said.

      Okay, Brad said. Aaron came running in.

      Nick, Briz needs you, Aaron said. Nick ran down the hall and into Brizees room.

      Baby, Nick said.

      GET OUT! Brizee said.

      What, why, Nick said.

      You asshole, get out! Brizee shouted. Nick looked at his mother.

      Brizee, sweetie, whats wrong, Jane said. Brizee pointed to the TV and it showed a video of Nick and Willa in bed.

      Oh my god, Jane said.

      What the hell, that bitch! Nick said. He called the TV station. He hung up and sat down and held his head in his hands.

      Nick, when did it happen, Jane said.

      That was when we were still together, Nick said.

      Then why did she say it was the other night! Brizee cried.

      Briz, she is trying to get me back, she still wants me, Nick said.

      Go be with her, make her happy, Brizee cried.

      NO! Nick said.

      GET THE HELL OUT! Brizee yelled.

      Brizee, honey, its your hormones, calm down, sweetie, Jane said.

      Get out, all of you! Brizee said.

      Briz, please, Nick said.

      GET OUT! ALL OF YOU! OUT! Brizee yelled. Everyone left. Nick stood there.

      Why are you doing this! Nick said.

      You want her, dont you, go and be with her! Brizee said.

      No, I dont want her, I want to be with you! Nick said.

      No, you dont, you are only with me because of Hayley, we dont need you! Brizee said angrily.

      Briz, dont do this, I love YOU! Nick said.

      Get out and leave me alone! Brizee yelled.

      No! Nick said.

      I mean it, get out and leave me and Hayley alone! Brizee yelled.

      Hayley is my daughter, too, and we are engaged, I am not leaving, Brizee, Nick said.

      We are over! Get the hell out! Brizee yelled. Nick looked at her and knew she was serious.

      Fine, Nick said. He walked out. Brizee sat there and looked down at Hayley who was resting in her arms.
